Lab Testing Redux
We’re still trying to figure out how to get some homegrow tested at a state certified lab. The three labs we’ve been in touch with so far haven’t been able to help. They need chain of custody paperwork - with a license number - that homegrow does not have.
We’ll keep at it and keep you posted.
Meanwhile, I do think the CCB/OCM would be interested in making revisions that allow a home cultivator to get some cannabis tested. The medical homegrow regs themselves don’t provide for testing, but there’s a clue in the Assessment of Public Comment for the medical regs that we might be able to get lab testing if we push for it:
COMMENT: A couple of comments were received regarding testing of home cultivated cannabis. One commenter expressed interest in having clear regulatory guidance for developing community product testing programs so that they can utilize qualitative and quantitative mass spectrometry technology to provide specific information to home cultivators about the contents of their products. One commenter expressed interest in having access to testing for home cultivated cannabis to ensure they are properly and efficiently dosing.
RESPONSE: The Office will take this comment under consideration and may provide future regulation. However, this comment is beyond the scope of the proposed regulations.
The emphasis is mine - I think they are suggesting that there are other regulations that might be a better place to provide for lab testing of home grow. Of course, they are (I think) talking about the emergency lab regs from August 31. As the many dedicated followers of this blog know, we (HCANY.org) will be submitting comments arguing for just that.
